Crafted from very old Japanese bamboo, likely around 100 years old (which explains the darker color).
The root end is filled, sanded, and toned with dark Urushi and bamboo dust.
The mouthpiece inlay features “Arvorin” (artificial ivory) with a 14k gold border in the traditional Kinko school shape.
The Nakatsugi joint rings are sterling silver, adorned with unique Urushi lacquer layers and metal dusts of gold and silver.
Bamboo thickness and weight are average, at 330 grams.
Musically, it’s a very strong and balanced flute, making it the best and easiest to play in my collection.
